Not feeling so refreshed when you wake up for the day? You need a better bedtime routine.
Winding down from a busy day can be difficult, but having the right routine can help you fall asleep faster and get a restful night’s sleep.
You already know this, but PUT DOWN THE PHONE
If you absolutely cannot stop looking at your phone, ipad or computer before bed, do yourself a favor and get some blue light blocking glasses. They’ll help you before bed and all day long (my headaches are almost non-existent). You can even get blue light blocking lenses for prescription glasses.
Read a book
A real book (see above). I don’t necessarily recommend reading anything too suspenseful before you fall asleep, but reading is a great way to turn your mind off from your day-to-day worries and give your eyes a little workout so they naturally want to shut. The downside of this is if you’re so into a book you stay up all night reading it, so maybe choose something that’s not so entertaining.
Take care of your skin
A great nighttime skincare routine will leave your skin glowing in the morning. The more often you wake up looking like a million bucks, the better you will stick to the routine. Focusing on self care before bed will also help you sleep better. You could even give yourself a mini facial while you’re at it!
Take a hot shower or a soothing bath
The steam is relaxing and tends to make you a little drowsy. Don’t forget to moisturize!
Prep for morning
The more you can prepare the night before, the easier your morning will be. There are plenty of breakfast foods you can make ahead and reheat in the morning. You can also lay out your clothes, plan your day and organize your purse, work tote, or gym bag so you’ll be ready to head out the door without much thought. Doing these things before bed will help you sleep better knowing there’s nothing pressing to remember in the morning.
